Mission

COMPETES (known as COMPERES in French) stands for “Committee of Mauriciens for Persistence in Education, Training and Enrolment of Students.”

The Committee carries out its strategic action plan under the guidance of the Table régionale de l’éducation de la Mauricie (TREM). This coalition has been in existence since 2002 and its previous initiatives have come under the banner of Jeunes en projet! Avenir de la Mauricie.

The mission of COMPETES/COMPERES is to energize and mobilize all interested parties in the region in addressing the problem of school dropout. It aims to encourage families, schools, businesses and communities in the Mauricie to become more involved in ensuring that more young people obtain a diploma each year.

The goal of the COMPETES regional action plan is to:

  • Support academic achievement by encouraging Mauricie youth to complete their education;
  • Promote, among all stakeholders in the community, the importance and value of obtaining a first diploma, in order to contribute to the social and economic development of the Mauricie and ensure a continuous supply of skilled workers;
  • Propose actions related to educational success that fall under three main areas of intervention:
    • prevention and intervention
    • dissemination, information and consolidation
    • development and innovation

COMPETES aims to mobilize an entire region to promote its dynamic development and growth by leveraging the full potential and success of its young people.
